What most people don't realize is that there are 4 types of giving in the Bible (First Fruits, the tithe, offerings, and alms). Each type of giving has a different motivation, purpose, and return on investment. People don't see their giving "working" because we often mix up these types of giving.

First Steps First
I recently took a step and ordered business cards. It's something I've been wanting to do for quite some time. I was gifted a beautifully engraved card case about a year ago that I take out of the box and just hold from time to time even though it was empty. Each time I would … Continue reading First Steps First
Don’t Fill Up on Bread
I love going out to eat, especially with friends. What I don't love is that time period between ordering and receiving my meal. During this time most of us keep our stomachs and mouths occupied by munching on bread. If you aren't careful, you won't have enough room left for your entree. Of course, you can get … Continue reading Don’t Fill Up on Bread
Glasses
A little boy came into the cafe the other day and he was wearing his glasses on his forehead. A coworker commented, "I don't think he likes his glasses." The boy was little, around 4 years old. I don't want to say he was cross-eyed but you could look at him and tell he has trouble seeing, yet he refused … Continue reading Glasses
Blackberry Molasses
If you've ever been to my house you know that my backyard is a hot mess; treacherous if you will. I have weeds back there as tall as I am. Trust the Process
It's been a while since I've published a post on the Life and Times of Colette. I think it was just the season I was in; a time to speak and a time to stay silent. I've also reunited with an old friend, library card, so I've been doing more reading than writing as of … Continue reading Trust the Process
You Can’t be Tight Acting Loose
In light of the continued unrest in our nation, I decided to post this as a continuation of my previous post "Such a Time as This". 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— Ephesians 6:18 NLT The next … Continue reading You Can’t be Tight Acting Loose
No Band-aids
The air conditioner in my home finally got fixed this week! I've been trying to get this fixed since February or March. Its been a long process but it's finally done! It didn't get fixed when I wanted it too, but it happened before I actually needed it. I had a few uncomfortable nights but … Continue reading No Band-aids
Spoken Word
"I told my people they can have what they say, but they are saying what they have."
The Gift of Giving
This past Christmas I did the majority of my shopping online for the first time ever. While it was easy and convenient there is a certain level of risk. Will the packages arrive on time? Will I be satisfied with the product? When my niece's gift arrived, to my disappointment, it was too small. At … Continue reading The Gift of Giving
